Quote This: Jane on Mother’s Day

I think of Mother’s Day as an excuse for fathers who don’t do much the rest of the year to assuage their guilt, and forgive themselves in advance for all the things they’re not going to do to support the mothers of their children through the year to come.  Want to really celebrate a mother? Do it on Monday. And every Monday thereafter. Tuesday and Wednesday too. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Flowers and breakfast in bed once a year–sure, a nice gesture. I’m not telling you not to do it. But an overpriced, decadent brunch once a year doesn’t make up for 364 of taking her for granted.
